Meet the CEO - Sue Hanshaw

 

Sue Hanshaw came to Charleston in 1984 with her husband to expand an insurance brokerage agency in South Carolina. She has served in numerous positions in her working career including Business Advisor in a brokerage agency, Owner of a clothing design business, City Clerk/Manager – Raytown, Missouri, Art Gallery owner, Soup kitchen volunteer and businesswoman.

Sue has served as the Executive Director of TFM from 1991-1997 and 1999 - present. She was instrumental in the establishment of a counseling program utilizing Citadel graduates working on their practicum. The program benefited over 650 clients in a five year period and has since been outsourced to partnering agencies. Sue took time off to get her BS Degree in Management from Southern Wesleyan University and to spend time with her family. She returned to TFM in April of 1999 and has implemented Healing Hands Ministries, a prescription assistance and health care referral program; Families in Transition, a residential life coaching program for homeless families looking to become part of mainstream society; as well as continuing to build the feeding, clothing, mentoring and emergency assistance programs that the lost and forgotten people in greater Charleston so desperately need.

Sue’s love and compassion to empower the less fortunate at TFM will be a life-long endeavor.
